Ben Mitchell Reaches 50 Caps

On Sunday, May 8th Ben Mitchell became the fourteenth player in Major League Rugby to take the pitch for 50 matches. Mitchell grew up playing rugby in Ireland where he played in the AIL with University College-Cork and was named player of the year twice. He began his Major League Rugby career in 2018 with Austin (formerly Austin Herd) where he earned vice captaincy in 2018 and captaincy in 2019. During his time there he was among the league leaders in dominant tackles and in carries.

Mitchell earned first team All MLR in 2018 and second team All MLR in 2019. Now on his third year with San Diego Legion, he has seven career tries to date.

Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps, and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first fourteen players to reach 50 caps for MLR includes Saia ‘Uhila of the Utah Warriors, Riekert Hattingh of the Seattle Seawolves and Luke White of the LA Giltinis.
