Free Jacks Launch Academy Residential Program with IDA Boston and the Newman School
IN COORDINATION WITH INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY AND THE NEWMAN SCHOOL, THE PROGRAM IS SET TO DELIVER UNIQUE ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC PATHWAYS.
After the successful launch of its full residential programs in Valencia (Spain), Reading (UK) and Rome (Italy), IDA is now bridging the gap across the Atlantic by adding a new program at their global HQ in Boston.
IDA Boston will further enhance the IDA commitment of becoming the global leader in the development and placement of players, aspiring to reach their full potential at the professional or collegiate level.
‘Creating unique pathways for students-athletes globally is why we exist’ said Peter Bradley, IDA Technical Director. ‘We pride ourselves on our ability to create connections between high level soccer and academic programs all over the world, and IDA Boston will exemplify that approach.”
Whilst participating in a full-time training and competitive sport schedule, IDA Boston students (grades 7-12) will attend The Newman School, which will provide access to its International Baccalaureate curriculum. “The Newman School will offer world-class education to the students, taking into consideration their ambition to excel in the sports arena”, said Michael Schafer, The Newman School Head of School.
Alongside the soccer program, based on the growing interest in rugby in New England, IDA has partnered with the New England Free Jacks to offer the same unique environment for rugby. “We are excited to bring a residential program into our growing Free Jacks Academy and combine a pathway for success for students through academics and rugby in the Boston area,” said Alex Magleby, Free Jacks CEO. “Students in the IDA Rugby Program will experience rugby-specific strength and conditioning training and high level international competition. The students will join together with select local players at the Junior Jacks level to compete. We see this as a perfect platform for rugby players from all over the world to be involved in a tremendous academic and athletic environment.”
The main hub for all training and competition for both the soccer and rugby programs will be the Union Point Sports Complex (UPSC). UPSC is a 22-acre indoor and outdoor sports complex, unique to the South Shore, sitting just 12 miles south of Boston. UPSC features four fully lit synthetic turf fields equipped with permanent playing surfaces for soccer, lacrosse, rugby and field hockey. During the winter months, two of the four fields will be covered by air supported structures (domes) which will enable year-round training in New England.
For student-athletes with integrity and drive who want to compete in a world-class environment, the soccer program with IDA Boston and the rugby program with the New England Free Jacks will give them the perfect opportunity and environment to achieve their goals.
