Major League Rugby Chooses OFX as its Official Foreign Exchange Partner
New partnership offers MLR community foreign exchange access and service they’ve never had before
DALLAS (August 13, 2020) – Major League Rugby (MLR) today announced OFX as its Official Global FX Partner. OFX is one of the world’s leading international payments providers. With over 475 million rugby fans worldwide and more than 40 million in the United States already, the partnership extends the reach of an already growing fan base in the U.S. and Canada.
Rugby is already a massively popular sport in countries like Australia, United Kingdom, South
Africa, and New Zealand. It naturally follows that nearly 40% of Major League Rugby players are expats living in the U.S. with homes and families overseas. Moving money globally is not only fundamental to the economy, but crucial for family survival when some members are overseas. The MLR fan base is also comprised of foreign-born expats used to feeling that they have a foot in more than one country. For these global citizens, OFX offers a leading solution that connects a seamless digital experience with high-touch, expert, 24/7 support to ensure individuals and families get their money where it needs to be around the world, day or night.
As the Official Global FX Partner of MLR, OFX will be a vital resource for the MLR community’s foreign exchange needs. “MLR has grown to become a strong business with a lot of international ties across the League so we needed an FX partner that we can trust,” said MLR Commissioner George Killebrew. “OFX is a wonderful partner for us as we continue to grow and know that we can rely on them.”
Skander Malcolm, Chief Executive Officer of OFX said, “this partnership will give rugby players, Major League Rugby, and its North American fan base an introduction to our global service along with an easy and secure way to enable and expand their global lives.” Major League Rugby joins a roster of selective sports affiliations for OFX that include PGA Australia, AFL Asia, and the International Tennis Federation.
