MAJOR LEAGUE RUGBY LAUNCHES “PICK & GO” GLOBALLY
Interactive game to engage fans on The Rugby Network’s live-streamed matches
(DALLAS) – Major League Rugby (MLR) announced today that the league is introducing “The Rugby Network (TRN) Pick & Go” – a free game of skill that will test the rugby knowledge of viewers watching live rugby matches on The Rugby Network. “TRN Pick & Go” comes after MLR signed a multi-year, national partnership with TAPPP, a New York-based technology and marketing company, that will allow rugby fans to engage in live, on-screen gaming and betting transactions.
Beginning on April 9, 2022, all MLR matches streamed live on TheRugbyNetwork.com will offer viewers the chance to earn points and compete for prizes by answering questions related to the current match, the team and players, possible future outcomes in the match, historical facts and rules of the game. With varying point levels to be earned, viewers will provide their answers via an interactive panel that is user-activated in a web browser used to stream the live game content. Eligible US players with the most points at the end of the game will win prizes.
“We are excited to introduce ‘The Rugby Network Pick & Go’ to our growing fan base,” said Commissioner George Killebrew. “Rugby fans are unique and love to interact around the game they love. Whether you’re a new fan or consider yourself a longtime expert on rugby, these types of promotions help connect fans on national and international levels. We hope to create further engagement opportunities as we continue to grow our sport.”
“TRN Pick & Go” contest will be promoted on The Rugby Network, Rugby Pass and MLR websites, emails and social media channels as well as the websites, emails and social media channels of the individual MLR clubs. Once registered on TheRugbyNetwork.com, users are instantly eligible to play “TRN Pick & Go” for free when they begin watching a live match.
Each time a registered user logs onto a live match stream, they will see a prompt on the right-hand side of the screen with a call to action, such as “Click Here to Test your Rugby Knowledge” or “Are You a Rugby Master?”. Clicking on the prompt will open the “TRN Pick & Go” Portal where fans can compete for prizes by answering questions that will be presented every few minutes while checking out exclusive content on MLR Insider—a new source of fan communication dedicated to current MLR news, historical facts, insights from last weekend’s matches and things to watch for in upcoming matches. For each live match, players in the US with the highest points in the first half, the second half and for full time will win prizes of MLR merchandise. The more questions you answer, the better your chances to win a prize and if you really know your MLR Rugby you could win more than once in a match!
