Utah Warriors 19 – 28 NOLA Gold
The NOLA Gold picked up their second-straight victory on Saturday afternoon by defeating the visiting Utah Warriors 28-19.
After NOLA’s (8-2) Tristan Blewitt picked off a Utah (1-7-1) pass at took it the other way for a try in the second minute, they were in control for the remainder of the match.
The Gold used four tries from four different players to put the Warriors away. NOLA captain J.P. Eloff scored a try and kicked all four of the Gold’s conversions to lead all scorers in the match with 13 points.
The five points the Gold picked up in the victory gave them some breathing room atop the league table. They remain in first place with 43 points on the season, six points ahead of the second place Seattle Seawolves (7-3). The Warriors remain in eighth place with 10 points.
Utah will look to get back on track against Rugby United New York (7-2) on Saturday, April 20 while the Gold will travel to Seattle to take on the Seawolves in a match that will have massive implications in the table.
Seattle Seawolves 52 – 10 Houston SaberCats
The Seattle Seawolves went on the road to defeat the Houston SaberCats 52-10 in the first-ever match played in Aveva Stadium.
The 52 points that the Seawolves (7-3) scored against the SaberCats (2-7) are the most points that they’ve scored this season. Seven different players scored tries and six of those tries came after the 36th minute. Brock Staller led all scorers in the match with 22 points on a try, three penalty goals and four conversions. Houston fly-half Sam Windsor was the first SaberCat to score a try in their new stadium.
Seattle picked up five points in the victory to jump up to second place in the league table with 37 total points on the season. Houston remains in seventh place with 11 points.
Houston will look to get back in the win column on Sunday, April 21 in Toronto when they take on the Arrows (4-5) while Seattle will welcome the league-leading NOLA Gold (8-2) to town on Sunday.
