Nate Augspurger Reaches 50 Caps
On Sunday April 30th, Nate Augspurger became the forty-seventh player in Major League Rugby to appear in 50 matches.
Nate (Legion #24) started playing Rugby in his early childhood. He played for the East Side Banshee while in high school. He would attend and play Rugby at the University of Minnesota. While at Minnesota, he was selected as a Collegiate All American.

Following his time at Minnesota he joined the USA 7s team in 2012 as a development player and signed his first residency contract in 2013. Nate made his debut for the USA Eagles 7s in Dubai in 2014. He represented the US at the 2015 Pan-American games on the Bronze Medal winning side and also earned selection as a traveling reserve for the 2016 Rio Olympics team.
He debuted for the United States (Eagle #491) against Italy in San Jose, California. Nate appeared in his first World Cup in 2019. He holds the honor of being the only Eagle to score a Try versus the All Blacks. He has made 33 test appearances for his country.
Following the 2019 MLR season, Nate achieved First Team All-MLR selection at Scrum-Half.
Nate has played Senior Rugby for Old Blue New York, Northeast Academy, and New York 7s.
Ahead of today’s match, in his MLR Career, he’s scored 19 tries, made 258 carries, has 3031 meters run, made 434 tackles, and has 308 ruck arrivals.
Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first forty-six players to accomplish 50 caps for MLR includes Matt Harmon of NOLA Gold, and Charlie Hewitt and Brad Tucker of the Rugby New York Ironworkers.
