Jake Turnbull Reaches 50 Caps

On Saturday, May 28th Jake Turnbull became the eighteenth player in Major League Rugby to take the pitch for 50 matches. Jake Turnbull grew up in Australia playing for Waverly College while in Middle and High School, as a senior club player he's played for Eastern Suburbs and Randwick. He first came to the US to play for the Glendale Raptors in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and the Denver Stampede in 2015.

No stranger to MLR, Turnbull was signed by the Houston SaberCats for the 2018 and 2019 season and Old Glory DC in 2020 before landing in Austin in 2021. During the 2021 season he made 12 appearances for the Gilgronis, five of which were starts. Now on his second season in Austin, Turnbull has tallied six career tries to date.

Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps, and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first seventeen players to reach 50 caps for MLR includes JP Smith of the Seattle Seawolves, John Ryberg of the LA Giltinis and Faka’Osi Pifeleti of the Austin Gilgronis.
